ResQ The Environment From Food Waste—While Saving Money!


The increase of food waste in Finland is a growing problem, but you can be part of the solution. With the help of just one app, you can reduce waste and save money.

Statistics show that about 400 million kilograms of food go to waste yearly in the Finnish food chain.  14% of this comes from food waste from food stores and 16% from restaurants (Kuluttajaliitto, 2025).   

A huge amount of the food waste in restaurants comes from the food that is prepared but does not even end up on the consumer´s plates. It is left in the food counter or kitchen because no one bought it. It has been studied that of all the food waste in restaurants, about 60% of this is the food that is left in the kitchen, prepared but untouched. 30% is the food waste from the plates of customers and 10% from the kitchen while preparing meals (Luke.fi, 2022) 

 

Eat delicious food and save the environment! 

As a foodie, I have been enjoying delicious food, participating in the reduction of food waste, and oh yes, saving money. My secret to all of this is the REsQ app, which you should download too! 

The ResQ app was created to reduce food waste by helping restaurants and companies sell food that would otherwise go to waste at a discount. In return, consumers get to have delicious food at a cheaper price and thus participate in food waste reduction.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that food waste has negative effects on our environment. As a mom and a consumer, I would like to participate in building a better future for my children. By using the ResQ app, one is able to save money, participate in environmental sustainability acts, and save time in cooking! 

Let us face it, cooking everyday can be exhausting and time-consuming, especially for working moms!
